Springshine Quilt

I tried a new recipe.  Rectangles and triangles and squares.  I was able to play with different sizes and shapes because each column was the same width.  When I put the columns together, I felt the quilt was too small.  I had quite a few yards of muslin and decided to try it out.  I'd never worked with muslin before, but now I will always have yards and yards of it.  For everything.

I was going to back it with flannel, but I couldn't find it in my stash.  So I used more muslin.  I.  Love.  It.  This was such an easy recipe.  I used an 8.5" square to draw my  lines.  I should have, but didn't account for the seam allowances on the triangles and smaller squares that made up some of the columns.  So the columns are between 7.5" and 8.5".  Each column is the same width.

I'm shocked every time a project comes together so perfectly.

Ohhhh.... also?  Notice how straight everything is?  I ripped the fabric.  RIPPED IT!!  I  know, genius, right? I can't cut a straight line to save my life.  Even when I mark it.  Can't do it.  RIPPED the FABRIC!  And it came out straight!  And was a lot quicker than cutting.

So.
1.)  Ripping
2.)  Muslin
3.)  Freehand
4.)  Ironing, ironing, ironing
This came out to be 64"x 82".
